About

La Galago liveboard is a 33 meter long traditional two mast Phinisi style sailboat. It consists of 3 main decks for living and diving plus an additional roof top deck that is opened during favourable conditions.

It has a total of 7 cabins and can accommodate 14 guests onboard. All cabins have wardrobes with plenty of space for your luggage, and a desk to fill out your log book after a spectacular day diving. All cabins also have hot water in the showers.

Your service is guaranteed with a very low crew to customer ratio. Enjoy a unique cultural exchange with the local Indonesian people as you learn a little Bahasa Indonesia and immerse yourself in the culture of this mystical land.

Diving

Approximate number of dives: 22

Our ‘Raja North’ charter is a breathtaking example of what the regency has to offer, customised to fit into a tight schedule.

Departing from Sorong, we will cruise to the picturesque white sands of Pulau Wai, followed by a sunset cruise to the ranger station based in the north of Batanta. Groot Fam is next on our list, thriving with the life carried from the falling tides of the Dampier Straight.

North again, to Wayag, where striking topography meets mass underwater diversity, and current laden sloping walls. Surface intervals in Wayag can be as spectacular as the dives, dramatic jagged limestone cliffs rupture the surface, which tower over tiny dome shaped rocks that scatter the areas turquoise waters.

Overnighting south towards Gam, we visit the world renowned ‘Passage’ dive site and its awe inspiring surrounds. From Gam we enter the Dampier Straight in search of giant manta rays, and colossal schools of pelagic fish.

Travel Info

Visa/Passport

Travelers arriving into Indonesia must have a minimum of a 6-month validity left on their passports. Citizens of most countries can obtain visa-on-arrival at their first point-of-entry in Indonesia (USD 25 for 30 days, extendable for another 30 days).  Certain nationalities, however, are required to obtain a visa from the Indonesian Embassy in their home countries before travel to Indonesia.

Insurance

Due to the remoteness of diving destination, we strongly advise our guests to take good travel insurance that includes emergency medical evacuation, baggage loss/damage, and cancellation policy. A valid dive accident insurance (such as DAN) must be carried by divers on our liveaboard.

Vaccinations

Consult your physician for necessary vaccinations prior to your travel to Indonesia. Malaria risk is present in some parts of the country, particularly In Papua. Take precautions with malaria prophylactics (malarone and doxicycline are recommended), but avoid the use of Lariam due to its side-effects and ineffectiveness in the region. Booster injections for intestinal diseases, Hepatitis A and B are also highly recommended.
